Area Engineer - Indiana Dept. of Transportation

Directs and supervises Project Engineers and/or Project Supervisors. Assigns Project Engineers, Project Supervisors and Inspectors to projects. Processes all Change Orders, has approval authority at appropriate levels; makes recommendations on all others. Provides engineering direction on all projects assigned, including decisions on non-routine matters. Provides positive input in preliminary and final field checks. Conducts personal inspection of projects to ensure compliance with plans, policies, special provisions and specifications. Trains personnel and evaluates assigned personnel. Sets contract time on all projects.
Requirements
Civil Engineer with B.S. Degree in related field of and licensed as registered professional engineer in Indiana. Minimum five (5) years experience;
Two (2) years experience as group or project leader providing work direction and training to engineering technicians and/or lower-level engineers or two (2) years experience in conducting engineering related research;
Must possess valid Indiana driver's license;
Extensive Knowledge and experience in all phases of highway construction, development and management;
Considerable Knowledge of and ability to apply American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) and American Association of State Highway Transportation (AASHTO) standards and specifications, Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Standards and Specifications, highway statutory, departmental and administrative laws, rules, policies and regulations;
Working knowledge of highway surveying principles, practices and techniques relative to construction.
Considerable Knowledge of civil engineering; Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety practices; employee training and development; supervisory principles and techniques;

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
