Responsibilities:
o Supports the Area in achieving key outcomes in safety, reliability, efficiency, compliance, cost and customer service.
o Provides technical, troubleshooting and maintenance support to all ASU, CO2, H2, and He plants within the area for all instrumentation equipment including PLC/DCS hardware, control wiring, I/O, transmitters, positioners, control valves, pneumatic systems, and analytical equipment.
o Provides day to day plant instrumentation and associated low voltage electrical support where qualified for operations and assists with execution of small improvement projects.
o Work with Area controls engineers, mechanical engineers, as well as National Reliability Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers to support any respective initiatives or projects.
Develop multi discipline knowledge and understanding as related to instrumentation applications for Industrial gas processeso Assist with redlining, maintaining, and developing necessary electrical and instrumentation documentation including wiring schematics, elementary drawings, layout drawings, I/O drawings, cable and conduit schedules, panel schedules, & loop drawings.
o Supports Reliability enhancement thru application of Instruments used in condition monitoring applications, IO health checking, diagnostics, and smart systems.
o Provides guidance for field technicians and managers for instrumentation PM's, work instructions, and related procedures.
Provide feedback and recommendations for changes as necessary thru the MOC process.
o Review the quality and completeness of electrical equipment and instrumentation PM execution at assigned plant locations and provide technical support with planning and execution.
o Supports plant instrument technicians with troubleshooting and repair of failed instrumentation, including MOC guidance, plant/equipment outage decision making, repair plan, and root cause analysiso Identify, define, estimate, develop, and execute instrumentation turnaround maintenance activities including instrument replacement, upgrades, new installations, calibrations, and functional checks.
Provide supervision and oversight for Instrument technicians and external contractorso Manage and provide technical support to instrument contractors to ensure accurate scope completion, proper documentation updates, standards compliance, and applicable code compliance (ISA, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, etc.
).
o Provide instrumentation execution support to the Projects Execution Team for major capital projects and new plant installations within the area.
o Represent the instrumentation reliability interests in the proposal and project commercialization process, including scope and spares input and new plant acceptanceo Complete area instrumentation technical reviews of MOCs and provide supplemental engineering data, drawings, analysis as necessary.
o Works with the Remote Operations Center (ROC) to execute instrumentation projects and initiatives identified to drive performance and close performance gapso Supports the annual training and certification process of all area technicians in regard to NFPA 70E regulations, ensuring proper knowledge and practical training around utilization of electrical equipment within each plant in the area.
o Supports the certification process of all area Instrumentation Technicians in regard to ISA CCST (Certified Control Systems Technician) Level I, Level II & Level III, ensuring proper knowledge in instrumentation theory and practical training around utilization of instrumentation within each plant in the area.
o Perform instrumentation condition assessments for reliability, efficiency, spares gap, age and obsolescence.
Monitors the completion of action plans to reduce and eliminate identified gaps and risksOthero Good technical and clear communication skills with solid interpersonal skillso Experience in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC/DCS systems; I/O devices including transmitters, positioners, control valves, and analytical equipment.
o Proven experience working with electrical circuits and equipment at 110V and below.
Qualification for 480V systems a pluso Experience with plant process instrumentation including pressure, temperature, and flow devices; including control valves, actuators, limit switches, measurement devices, analog and digital indicators.
