2K a year 1 day ago 1 day ago 1 day ago A Phlebotomist is responsible for accurate patient identification prior to specimen collection and the acquisition, processing and delivery of laboratory specimens.
May have additional assigned responsibilities for patient registration, test order entry and obtaining proper documentation where required.
Essential Functions:
Performs blood draws on patients of all ages.
Organizes and prioritizes patient requisitions and workload.
Collects all specimens using ascribed aseptic technique including proper hand washing before and after each blood draw and the use of appropriate protective equipment (PPE).
Practices AIDET principles.
Uses positive patient identification when collecting specimens.
Insures two patient identifiers are always used.
Instructs patients on completing an Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) if required.
Documents date and time specimen is drawn on each tube or specimen container.
Ensures specimen is properly logged into the Cerner LIS.
Investigates reference laboratory specimen requirements for OutREACH orders.
Contacting and notifying laboratory technical staff of any specimen or test concerns.
Centrifuging and processing specimens.
Assists ED with blood draws and Point of Care Testing (POC) as required.
Performs therapeutic phlebotomy as needed.
Performs PPD injectins and results as indicated.
Performs OutREACH clerical and general office duties including accurate patient registration, use of the Document Imaging system, and accurate order entry as assigned.
Education Required High School or better.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
