Spindle is seeking a passionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year.
As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs.
Collaborating closely with general education teachers, administrators, and families, you will develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), provide specialized instruction, and support students' social and emotional growth.
Your expertise in special education practices will ensure that every student receives the necessary accommodations and interventions to thrive academically and personally.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, in collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and support staff.
Provide specialized instruction, adapting curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet students' unique learning needs.
Assess students' progress, track their academic growth, and modify instruction and interventions based on data-informed decisions.
Collaborate with general education teachers to co-plan and co-teach inclusive lessons that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Utilize instructional strategies, technologies, and accommodations to support students' learning and engagement.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes students' social-emotional development, independence, and self-advocacy skills.
Implement behavior management strategies and support students in developing appropriate behavioral skills.
Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on students' progress and strategies for support.
Collaborate with support staff and outside service providers to coordinate additional resources and support for students.
Stay updated with best practices and developments in the field of special education.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
Valid Indiana teaching license with Special Education endorsement (or eligibility for licensure).
Previous experience working as a Special Education Teacher (preferred).
Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and their effective implementation.
Strong understanding of diverse learning needs and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, and a multidisciplinary team.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for empowering students with special needs.
